James White

James White (1843-1895) came to Australia as a labourer. He had had enough schooling to be able to read and write, as he became Session Clerk of the North Pine Presbyterian Church.

James' first wife, Angelina Elizabeth, gave birth to Sam, Joe, Harry, William, Charles, Lilly, Frank, Fred, Jack, Walter, and Ben. She died after the birth of Ben. James later married Catherine Reid, and had six more children: Ina, Carrie, George, Jim, Albert, and Norman.

The family lived in the Pine Rivers district, and their property was later acquired by Australian Paper Mills. The road leading to the APM factory is White's Road.

James and his wives are buried in the North Pine Cemetry (Lawnton), on the ridge south of the river, west of the railway bridge.
